Why you should study the Bible.

Why should we study the Bible? This is a question that has plagued many a mind of a new Christian convert. It is the topic of many books, the main point of many messages, and a question that has some people constantly questioning their faith. So why should we study the Bible? 

First, it helps us know our Savior better. If you profess to be a follower of Jesus Christ, you should know who you are following on a personal level. Would you follow after someone that you know nothing about? Of course not. So why wouldn't you want to know more about the Savior the foundational reason for our faith? To have a relationship with someone with enough passion to follow them, you must first know who the person is. Reading through the words of this great Book is an amazing way to learn about Christ and His ultimate work on the cross for us.

Second, it helps us in our sanctification. Our sanctification, defined more simply as the growth or progression of our Christian walk, takes a lot of effort. If my desire is to grow in my faith, I must first learn about the faith I want to grow in. To learn more about my faith, I must be making a personal effort of pouring information into my mind from a reliable source. The Bible is a reliable, true, and convicting resource that is packed full of information that will help us grow and mature as believers.

Thirdly, it helps us be better equipped to fulfill the ultimate goal of the Christian; to reach more people for the Gospel. That is the end goal. The make more disciples for the cause of Christ. To see other lost sheep be found. To grow the family of God.

So why should be study the Bible? Because it is the foundation of our belief. It gives us the information we need for our faith. And ultimately, it brings us closer to The One who is the reason of our faith.
